 MIKRONESIA is a philadelphia based electronic musician, composer and producer. From 2000-2004 he was the producer / keyboardist and band-leader for Robots in Disguise. Robots was founded in late 2000 as a live based outfit that performed experimental hip-hop, dub, drum & bass and other forms of live electronic music. Over the years the band consisted of Mikronesia on synths, piano and samplers. Plunkit on bass and vocals. Hutnons and DJ Skipmode on turntables. A revolving crew of live drummers including Jimmy Coleman (aka N'Dugu), Tony Catastrophe and Litt.

In the studio and on stage, the Robots had team of various producers, beatmakers and live sound tweakers like john brown (aka Nomad) and Whiplash on machinery so wickedly advanced that I dare not speak its name here. Also a mainstay of Robots' shows were a wide array of vocalists and MCs including, but not limited to, The Mighty Flipside, Elad and Jawnzap 7.

Robots live shows were truly a spectacle, with live sequenced videos, fashion and art shows, costumed compatriots and other non-conventional concert fare to stimulate the senses.

The Robots were lucky to play all over Philadelphia at places like the Troc and the TLA as well as throwing their own unique performances in top secret locales throughout the countryside.

In 2004 Robots are on hiatus. Plunkit is working with members of Z, The Ally and Astrolyte on a new dark theatrical project. N'dugu is continuing work with his funk/soul outfit, Aquasession. Skipmode is still rocking the wheels of steel on a daily basis throughout Philadelphia. You can catch him solo or with his DJ crew, Ill Vibe Collective all over the city and all week long check your local listings for more details. Hutnons is also dabbling in different projects both in Philly and out in LA.

Mikronesia is continuing his solo ambient / electro-acoustic type of computer based music that he started in 2003.
Currently he is working on new Mikronesia ambient tracks for a forth coming EP. He is also doing production work with Aquasession, Silent Assassins,.dmops. and some other crews. as well as working and rehearsing with Gemini Wolf.

the tiny sounds of mikronesia are the result of volcanic activity millions of years ago. Some are the tips of huge underwater mountains, some of the atolls are the rims of sunken volcano craters which peak above the water surrounding serene lagoons, and some are combinations of both.

the mountains of noise (small and large) have dramatic cliff faces which, rise straight from the sea. they are covered in tropical jungle and blessed with plenty of rainfall. the beautiful low coral atolls encircle blue-green lagoons. mikronesia is a pleasant mix of traditional and the new.
